Lenovo Looks To Offer Microsoft-free Client

Lenovo announced today they are looking at offering IBM's "Microsoft-free" client known as the Open Collaboration Client Solution (OCCS).

"We're looking at the new program but I can't speculate on future products," a spokeswoman said.

The package includes IBM's Lotus Notes and Lotus Symphony e-mail and desktop productivity suites believed to be running on Ubuntu's, Suse's, and Red Hat's linux based operating system.

The move by Lenovo could help increase the suite's popularity and stick a thorn in Microsoft's side. While this has not been confirmed, I'm sure this has got the attention of a few folks in the Redmond area.
